He married Minerva Mark Jackson in Maury Co., TN, February 24, 1836. Minerva was born in Maury Co., TN February 2, 1818. Minerva was the daughter of Mark Lambert Jackson and Elizabeth Leannah Basye Webb. Minerva died March 18, 1891 in Maury Co., TN, at 73 years of age. At 19 years of age Minerva became the mother of Martha Frances Hays September 27, 1837. At 21 years of age Minerva became the mother of Elizabeth Leanah Hays August 21, 1839. At 22 years of age Minerva became the mother of Eliza Ann Hays January 15, 1841. At 24 years of age Minerva became the mother of James Lamberth Hays October 14, 1842. At 26 years of age Minerva became the mother of Nancy Jane Hays July 2, 1844. At 28 years of age Minerva became the mother of Mary Louise Hays June 9, 1846. At 30 years of age Minerva became the mother of John Butler Hays April 26, 1848. At 31 years of age Minerva became the mother of William Franklin Hays December 4, 1849. At 34 years of age Minerva became the mother of Samuel Alexander Hays D.D.S. in Maury Co., TN, September 13, 1852. At 37 years of age Minerva became the mother of Andrew Johnson Hays July 9, 1855. At 40 years of age Minerva became the mother of Daniel Jackson Hays May 9, 1858. At 42 years of age Minerva became the mother of Davis Kilcrease Hays June 10, 1860. At 45 years of age Minerva became the mother of Robert Lee Hays August 1, 1863. At 47 years of age Minerva became the mother of Alice Tennessee Hays November 6, 1865.

At 22 years of age Davis became the father of Martha Frances Hays September 27, 1837. At 24 years of age Davis became the father of Elizabeth Leanah Hays August 21, 1839. At 25 years of age Davis became the father of Eliza Ann Hays January 15, 1841. At 27 years of age Davis became the father of James Lamberth Hays October 14, 1842. At 28 years of age Davis became the father of Nancy Jane Hays July 2, 1844. At 30 years of age Davis became the father of Mary Louise Hays June 9, 1846. At 32 years of age Davis became the father of John Butler Hays April 26, 1848. At 34 years of age Davis became the father of William Franklin Hays December 4, 1849. At 37 years of age Davis became the father of Samuel Alexander Hays D.D.S. in Maury Co., TN, September 13, 1852. At 39 years of age Davis became the father of Andrew Johnson Hays July 9, 1855. At 42 years of age Davis became the father of Daniel Jackson Hays May 9, 1858. At 44 years of age Davis became the father of Davis Kilcrease Hays June 10, 1860. At 48 years of age Davis became the father of Robert Lee Hays August 1, 1863. At 50 years of age Davis became the father of Alice Tennessee Hays November 6, 1865. He was a constable and mule supplier.

Davis Kilcrease Hays and Minerva Mark Jackson had the following children:

8 i. Martha Frances⁴ Hays was born September 27, 1837. Martha died August 5, 1854 at 16 years of age.

9 ii. Elizabeth Leanah Hays was born August 21, 1839. Elizabeth died September 27, 1871 at 32 years of age. She married Pervines Fox.

10 iii. Eliza Ann Hays was born January 15, 1841. She married John Brecheen.

11 iv. James Lamberth Hays was born October 14, 1842. James died December 3, 1864 at 22 years of age.

12 v. Nancy Jane Hays was born July 2, 1844. Nancy died February 24, 1920 at 75 years of age. She married William Brecheen.

13 vi. Mary Louise Hays was born June 9, 1846. Mary died December 27, 1848 at 2 years of age. She married Dr. William Marshall Crutcher.

14 vii. John Butler Hays was born April 26, 1848. John died 1848 at less than one year of age.

+ 15 viii. William Franklin Hays was born December 4, 1849.

+ 16 ix. Samuel Alexander Hays D.D.S. was born September 13, 1852.

17 x. Andrew Johnson Hays was born July 9, 1855. Andrew died July 9, 1920 at 65 years of age.

18 xi. Daniel Jackson Hays was born May 9, 1858. Daniel died August 17, 1862 at 4 years of age.

19 xii. Davis Kilcrease Hays was born June 10, 1860. Davis died February 9, 1909 at 48 years of age. He married Emma Ella Crutcher.

20 xiii. Robert Lee Hays was born August 1, 1863. Robert died March 29, 1942 at 78 years of age. He married Martha Ann Phillips.

21 xiv. Alice Tennessee Hays was born November 6, 1865. Alice died March 26, 1904 at 38 years of age. She married John Marshall Hunter December 26, 1886. John was born in Maury Co., TN May 1, 1863. John was the son of James Marshall Hunter and Elizabeth F. Norris. John died April 18, 1945 in Maury Co., TN, at 81 years of age. His body was interred after April 18, 1945 in Columbia, Maury Co., TN, Rose Hill Cemetery.
