9. Col. William³ Edmiston (John Turk², David Turk¹) was born in Cecil Co., MD April 27, 1736. William died July 30, 1822 in Abingdon, Washington Co., VA, at 86 years of age.

He married twice. He married Margaret Nancy Montgomery in Rockbridge Co., VA, 1760. Margaret became the mother of Margaret E. Edmiston in Glade Springs, VA, February 16, 1762. Margaret became the mother of John Edmiston February 21, 1764. Margaret became the mother of Ester Edmiston in VA, April 13, 1766. Margaret became the mother of Samuel Edmiston December 7, 1768. Margaret became the mother of Robert Edmiston May 24, 1771. Margaret became the mother of Thomas Edmiston August 4, 1773. Margaret became the mother of Mary Elizabeth Edmiston January 22, 1776. He married Elizabeth Kennedy about 1780.

At 25 years of age William became the father of Margaret E. Edmiston in Glade Springs, VA, February 16, 1762. At 27 years of age William became the father of John Edmiston February 21, 1764. At 29 years of age William became the father of Ester Edmiston in VA, April 13, 1766. At 32 years of age William became the father of Samuel Edmiston December 7, 1768. At 35 years of age William became the father of Robert Edmiston May 24, 1771. At 37 years of age William became the father of Thomas Edmiston August 4, 1773. At 39 years of age William became the father of Mary Elizabeth Edmiston January 22, 1776.

Col. William Edmiston and Margaret Nancy Montgomery had the following children:

15 i. Margaret E.⁴ Edmiston was born in Glade Springs, VA February 16, 1762.

16 ii. John Edmiston was born February 21, 1764.

17 iii. Ester Edmiston was born in VA April 13, 1766.

18 iv. Samuel Edmiston was born December 7, 1768.

19 v. Robert Edmiston was born May 24, 1771. Robert died in Kings Mountain, NC.

20 vi. Thomas Edmiston was born August 4, 1773.

21 vii. Mary Elizabeth Edmiston was born January 22, 1776. She married Samuel Gilliland. Samuel was born April 28, 1775. Samuel was the son of James Gilliland and Susannah Young. At 23 years of age Samuel became the father of Samuel Edmiston Gilliland in Mecklenburg Co., VA, March 17, 1799. (See Samuel Gilliland for the continuation of this line.)

At 23 years of age Mary became the mother of Samuel Edmiston Gilliland in Mecklenburg Co., VA, March 17, 1799.
