1. John¹ Caperton was born circa 1725. John died after 1789.

He married Mary 'Polly' Thompson. Mary was the daughter of Adam Thompson and Elizabeth (?). Mary became the mother of Hugh Caperton 1751. Mary became the mother of Adam Caperton 1753. Mary became the mother of Sarah Caperton circa 1755. Mary became the mother of Mary Caperton circa 1757. Mary became the mother of Nancy Caperton circa 1760. Mary became the mother of Elizabeth Caperton circa 1763. Mary became the mother of William Caperton 1766. Mary became the mother of James Caperton 1770.

At 26 years of age John became the father of Hugh Caperton 1751. At 28 years of age John became the father of Adam Caperton 1753. John immigrated, before 1754. Destination: destination unknown. John became the father of Sarah Caperton circa 1755. John became the father of Mary Caperton circa 1757. John became the father of Nancy Caperton circa 1760. John became the father of Elizabeth Caperton circa 1763. At 41 years of age John became the father of William Caperton 1766. At 45 years of age John became the father of James Caperton 1770.

John Caperton and Mary 'Polly' Thompson had the following children:

2 i. Hugh² Caperton was born 1751. Hugh died 1816 in Monroe Co., VA, at 65 years of age. Hugh's will was probated in Monroe Co., VA, September 17, 1816.

+ 3 ii. Adam Caperton was born 1753.

4 iii. Sarah Caperton was born circa 1755. She married James Gibson before 1775. James became the father of Elizabeth Gibson 1776. (See James Gibson for the continuation of this line.)

At 21 years of age Sarah became the mother of Elizabeth Gibson 1776.

5 iv. Mary Caperton was born circa 1757.

6 v. Nancy Caperton was born circa 1760.

7 vi. Elizabeth Caperton was born circa 1763.

8 vii. William Caperton was born 1766.

9 viii. James Caperton was born 1770.
