1. William1 Byers Sr. was born in Nothern Ireland about 1730.
He married Elizabeth Walton. Elizabeth became the mother of Elizabeth Walton Byers in York Co., SC, September 16, 1769.
At 39 years of age William became the father of Elizabeth Walton Byers in York Co., SC, September 16, 1769. He became a member of the South Carolina Provincial Congress during the years 1775-1776 and was a Captain in Colonel Neel’s regiment during the Snow Campaign, and also severed during the Cherokee War, the Briar Creek Campaign, and also served at Charleston. He resigned his commission June 20, 1779.

Elizabeth died July 21, 1852 at 82 years of age. She married Rev. Ephraim McLean (son of Charles &
Susan). Ephraim was the son of Charles McLean (son of John) and Susan Howard. Ephraim became the father of John
McLean (son of Eph.&Eliz.Byers) 1791. Ephraim became the father of Dr. William Byers McLean (son of Eph.&Eliz.Bye in
Greensboro, Guilford Co., NC, 1792. Ephraim became the father of Finis Ewing McLean 1806. (See Rev. Ephraim McLean (son of Charles & Susan) for the continuation of this line.)
At 21 years of age Elizabeth became the mother of John McLean (son of Eph.&Eliz.Byers) 1791. At 22 years of age Elizabeth became the mother of Dr. William Byers McLean (son of Eph.&Eliz.Bye in Greensboro, Guilford Co., NC, 1792. At 36 years of age Elizabeth became the mother of Finis Ewing McLean 1806.
